Steve Woodhead

LLB (Hons) APFS - Consultant

After studying Law at university, Steve decided to start a career in 1993 and worked for one of the UK's largest insurance companies. He has been a member of the BBT team since 2001 and is a Chartered Financial Planner.

Steve has been happily married to Sarah for over 18 years and they have two sons.

Hobbies and interests include: watching and playing most sports, particularly football and cycling. Steve enjoys being outdoors and has been involved in Scouting all his life – he has been a Scout leader since 2006. Weekends are usually spent watching his son's football team, riding his bike in the middle of nowhere, or camping with the Scouts.


Stuart Gayer

BA (Hons) - Consultant

Stuart has been a consultant since 1985 after graduating in Marketing. Having started his career with a major insurance company, he then moved to the independent sector in 1992. Most of his career has been spent working with clients at, near or in retirement.

Married to Anne with one daughter, Sandra, and two Bichon Frise dogs (females), Stuart says of his spare time activities, "I am truly a man among women – they ensure that I do not have any time to myself, outside of work!"


David Cabrera

BA (Hons) DipPFS - Consultant

David has been involved within the financial services marketing and advertising sector since 1987. He has worked for a number of major insurers and blue-chip clients in the UK and Spain.

A consultant since 2002 and with BBT since 2004, David is married to Angela and has two children and two dogs. He says he's still trying to work out which of the four is the most sensible!

Outside of work, he likes to spend time with family and friends. He also watches Barnet Football Club when he can.


Chris Taylor

BA (Hons) DipPFS - Consultant

Chris started his financial career in 2000, initially working for a high street bank and major insurance company. He joined BBT in 2006 and has a degree in Business Administration which he believes is an advantage when dealing with the day-to-day running of the business.

Chris is married to Tanya with two young children and says his weekends are certainly busy!

Away from business, Chris enjoys football, running and golf, as well as spending time with family and friends.


Richard Pearson-Wood

BSc (Hons) DipPFS - Consultant

In his early years, Richard worked in the agricultural industry including farm management and market development in Russia. Having gained experience of those financial markets, Richard decided to make a career in UK financial services.

Richard joined BBT as a consultant in 2006 and is married to Lena with three adult children.

After much family encouragement, he has reactivated his horse riding career. He is a keen follower of rugby, and any other spare time is taken up with a variety of countryside-related activities.


Robert Colebrook

Cert PFS DipFA - Consultant

After spending 24 years in the Royal Navy, Bob wanted to move into financial services and began his career with BBT in 2006.

Bob says: "My time spent in the forces has been invaluable and given me the communication and organisational skills necessary to be a successful BBT consultant."

He lives in the Midlands with his wife Lisa and two children. A keen Gloucester rugby fan, Bob also enjoys golf, walking and reading.


Jamie Windle

APFS - Consultant

Jamie joined BBT in 2005, following the completion of his BA (Hons) Financial Services degree. He is a firm believer in communicating his thoughts and recommendations in the most easy-to-understand manner, so as to make the subject of "finance" that little bit more bearable. In summary: "I'll do the hard work so you don't have to."

Married to Karina, they both enjoy supporting Sheffield Wednesday FC, who they say "will be back in the Premier League within our lifetime – assuming we live long enough to receive birthday cards from royalty!"

Jamie likes to stay active, and is a keen cyclist and runner. Each year he takes part in a different physically gruelling challenge to focus his attention on staying fit, and more importantly to raise money for one of his chosen charities.


Carl Reitel

Cert DipFA - Consultant

Previously having worked in quality assurance and the hospitality industry, Carl made a career change into the financial services industry in 2007.

Initially, he started his new career with one of the UK's largest building societies and having gained the necessary experience, made the move to BBT in 2010.

Carl is married to Danielle with two children. He enjoys spending time with his family, especially the children, socialising with friends and mountain biking.


Gary McKenzie

DipPFS - Consultant

Following 22 years' service in the Royal Navy, Gary wanted to move into financial services. He began his career with BBT in 2010 and enjoys the diversity of his role.

He enjoys most sports, albeit mostly as a spectator now, and spending time in the countryside where he lives with Susan and their young daughter Libby.


Tobias Doyle

DipFA - Consultant

Tobias began his financial services career in 2007 with a major high street bank. After realising that he wanted to move into an environment where he could spend more time with clients and offer a comprehensive financial planning service, he moved to BBT. He enjoys the freedom of being able to offer a wide range of options to clients and being able to create a personal financial plan.

Tobias spends most of his spare time trying to keep fit by cycling, swimming and practising various martial arts.


Roy Ritchie

DipPFS - Consultant

Roy has worked in financial services since leaving university, initially for two household insurance companies, before becoming an IFA in 1989. Prior to joining BBT, he specialised in advising the clients of solicitor and accountancy practises.

Married to Gill, Roy has a son, daughter, two step-daughters and a grandchild.

To get away from the stresses of the day, he is involved amateur dramatics. Roy says he enjoys "everything from Pantomime where I usually play the Dame's not too bright sidekick (not much acting skill required) to musicals (the fact I can't sing a note and have two left feet never seemed to be a problem in getting a part) to Agatha Christie murder mysteries(I've died on stage lots of times)."

He is a Sheffield Steelers fan and goes to games whenever possible.


Alex Pickles

APFS - Consultant

Alex has been working in the financial service industry since 2004, throughout his career he has worked for small independent firms before joining the team at BBT to utilise his skills and knowledge within a larger Chartered Firm.

Along with his wife, Hayley, he loves to travel abroad and experience different cultures. They also enjoy spending time travelling around the UK with their beagle, Dexter.

In his free time, Alex tries to keep fit by going to the gym and playing for his local football team. He is also a proud Leeds United fan.


Andy Bissell

APFS – Consultant

Andy has been a member of the BBT team since 2007 following completion of his Business Degree specialising in Marketing and Finance. Having spent the majority of his time in senior technical and analysis roles, he has a well rounded level of experience and knowledge but describes the direct interaction with clients as the ‘best part of the job’.

A keen traveller, Andy has lived and worked in America and New Zealand in the past and enjoys exploring different countries and cultures. He is general sports fan and when he is not working he likes to play golf, listen to live music or spend time with family and friends.


Alex Smith

BA (Hons), DipPFS – Consultant

Following his time at PwC working with national and international organisations as a business consultant across a range of industries Alex joins the BBT team as an adviser. He is passionate about helping people to make sound decisions in the face of ever rising complexity and is adept at communicating difficult concepts in simple terms.

In his spare time Alex is a major sports fan who enjoys watching and playing a range of sports, particularly tennis, golf, and skiing in the winter. Alex also loves learning about new things, whatever the topic and enjoys travelling having visited many of the major European cities with plans to travel further afield.


Will Hodgson

BSc (Hons) DipPFS – Consultant

Will graduated from Sheffield Hallam University with a degree in Geography in 2011.  He  then went on to  initially start his career in financial services in 2012 with a large financial product provider and joined BBT Group in 2015 starting in Online Processing, taking exams and progressing to Paraplanning.  He is working hard to achieve Level 6 qualifications and chartered status.  He lives with his fiancée Emily and likes to fill any spare time with DIY projects in and around the house, attending gigs and concerts plus likes to watch a multitude of sports such as rugby union, motorsports and football.


Jonathan Warhurst

BSc (Hons) APFS – Consultant

Jonathan began his career in financial services in 2011 after completing his degree in Accounting and Finance. With considerable experience working for a national independent adviser firm, he joined BBT in 2017 and spent two years as supervisor of the Paraplanning team before transitioning into his role as Financial Planner.

Jonathan enjoys spending his spare time blowing away the cobwebs in the great outdoors. When not having his hands full with his three children, he also likes reading, cooking and pub quizzes; he is always on the lookout for gameshows to apply to, too.


Jack Hewitson

LLB ACSI – Consultant

Jack began his career in financial services after completing his Law and Politics degree at Cardiff University in 2014. He later joined BBT Group after spending several years as an Investment Manager for a global investment management firm. Jack believes that advising clients is as much about heart as it is knowledge, and considers his biggest testimony to be seeing his clients living the life that they dreamed of and knowing that he was part of making that happen.

A keen traveller, Jack loves nothing more than getting lost somewhere with his backpack and camera. Having previously lived and worked in Shanghai, he is fluent in Mandarin. Jack is passionate about giving back, taking an active role in managing an investment portfolio for a local charity on a pro bono basis.


Salman Khan

BSc (Hons) DipPFS - Consultant

Salman began his career in Financial Services in 2014 after completing his finance degree from Bradford University. He initially worked within Director Tim Brumby’s team, where he developed his understanding of the business, processes and client servicing before progressing into the Paraplanning department. Salman transitioned into his role as a Financial Planner after completing his diploma in Regulated Financial Advice, and is currently striving towards individual Chartered status.

Outside of work, Salman enjoys being active and appreciates a variety of sports. A recent interest has been hiking up a mountain or through an AONB with family or friends.


Emily Amos

DipPFS - Consultant

Emily joined BBT Group from a large insurance company and has over a decade of experience working as a Financial Planner. She believes in providing holistic financial advice and encourages her clients to build robust financial plans. Emily reaps the rewards of her role through watching her clients achieve their goals and objectives.

Wife to Ian and mum to two boys, Emily enjoys exploring in the outdoors, whatever the weather. She would like to run a marathon in the next couple of years and so her training is under way.


Akbar Patel

DipFA - Consultant

Akbar has been working in the financial service industry since 2007, beginning his career with a number of years within high street banks before transitioning into the role of Independent Financial Planner. Akbar prides himself on providing the highest level of service to his clients. He believes every client is unique and so his approach is personal; his aim is to get know each individual and what is important to them, and to develop long-lasting relationships.
Akbar is married to his wife, a primary school teacher, and has three children. In his spare time, he enjoys volunteering and fundraising for a local charity, and playing a variety of sports.
